The article reveals the psychological features of interpersonal interaction of military personnel, which is particularly important in the context of martial law in Ukraine. The study emphasizes that successful communication, cohesion and mutual understanding in the team are critical for adaptation, combat missions, reducing conflict and preserving the mental health of the military. The article’s purpose is to psychologically analyse the personal components of interpersonal interaction and identify the peculiarities of their manifestation depending on the duration of military service. An empirical study conducted among 60 military personnel demonstrated statistically significant differences between the groups in terms of different lengths of service. Experienced military personnel demonstrate higher scores in all components of interpersonal interaction. In particular, their motivational component indicates a strong desire to expand contacts and value orientation to interaction, in contrast to the situational and external motivation of recruits. The emotional component of experienced military personnel is characterized by satisfactory emotional maturity, although it may be subdued due to stress. The volitional component increases significantly with experience, manifesting in high self-control, confidence in decision-making, and the ability to defend one’s opinion. The cognitive component of experienced military personnel reaches a high level, indicating a clear understanding of the motives and feelings, the ability to resolve conflicts with the help of psychological knowledge and adapt communication to the situation. The strongest correlation is observed in the overall indicator of integrated interpersonal competence, which indicates a holistic and integrated development of these skills with service experience. It is concluded that military experience contributes to the integrated development of interpersonal competence, which plays a key role in maintaining the psychological stability of personnel.
