Abstract

The article presents a theoretical analysis of the value-meaning sphere of personality as a complex regulatory psychological construct that determines life strategies, behavioral attitudes, personal identity, and the level of psychological well-being. The study is based on an integration of existential, humanistic, and cognitive approaches, and involves the analysis of works by V. Frankl, A. Maslow, C. Rogers, M. Rokeach, S. Schwartz, among others. The historical and philosophical origins of the concept of meaning in life are examined, particularly in the writings of J. P. Sartre, K. Jaspers, and V. Frankl. Special attention is paid to the functions of the value-meaning sphere in the processes of adaptation, self-regulation, identity formation, decision-making, and the construction of life perspective.Within the framework of the structural-genetic approach, personality is regarded as an active subject of life- creation who continuously generates meaningful constructs in response to sociocultural challenges. A close relationship is revealed between the structure of the value-meaning sphere and indicators of emotional stability, resilience, internal locus of control, and motivational maturity. Contemporary theoretical models are analyzed, including the Meaning Maintenance Model (Heine et al.), the Self-Concordance Model (Sheldon & Elliot), the Value Congruence Theory (Kristof-Brown et al.), and the Value-Based Goal Theory (Emmons). It is shown that the alignment of life goals with core personal values enhances self-regulation, psychological resilience, life satisfaction, and reduces procrastination and existential anxiety. The role of value-meaning regulation in the context of social transformations – war, forced migration, economic instability, and cultural shifts – is examined separately. It is argued that the value-meaning sphere performs both stabilizing and adaptive functions, serving as an internal resource for coping with crisis and promoting personal growth. Theoretical conclusions are of practical relevance for psychological counseling, educational programs, and the development of personal growth strategies under conditions of social turbulence.
