Abstract

The article presents a theoretical and empirical analysis of emotional intelligence as a tool for developing personal resilience. Key approaches to defining the term “resilience” are discussed. The understanding of emotional intelligence as a psychological phenomenon is clarified. Resilience has been established as being viewed as an individual trait, a constantly changing process, and a capability. Models of personal resilience, as highlighted by domestic and foreign researchers, are outlined. This summarizes the most common interpretations of resilience in modern psychology, considering it as a personality trait and an evolving process. According to this, resilience, as a constantly changing process, facilitates adaptation in stressful circumstances. It enables individuals or societies to overcome life’s obstacles, building a fulfilling existence even in difficult conditions. Characterized by the ability to skillfully allocate and utilize resources in difficult situations, contributing to the maintenance of psychological comfort. The importance of resilience is emphasized in a person’s ability to survive and grow after traumatic events, leading to post-traumatic growth of the personality. It is stated that the key aspects that define resilience are the interaction between the analyzed personality traits that contribute to an individual’s resilience to key stressors in professional life. An analysis of empirical research on personality resilience has been conducted. The study presents data on determining the level of resilience and emotional intelligence of the teaching staff, and the results obtained are analyzed. Biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors are considered. Based on the study’s findings, participants demonstrated a predominantly average level of resilience. This is characterized by acknowledging circumstances, focusing on possible solutions, taking responsibility for their own existence, being proactive, and controlling their emotional state.
