MOTIVATIONAL ASPECT OF THE PSYCHOLOGICAL READINESS OF MODERN WOMEN TO IMPLEMENT THE REPRODUCTIVE FUNCTION

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the motivational aspect of the psychological readiness of modern women to realize their reproductive function, which is extremely relevant, given the critical decline in the birth rate in our country in recent years.Based on a theoretical analysis of scientific literature, it was found that in psychology this problem is mostly considered in the context of reproductive motivation, as a system of internal and external factors that encourage the woman to make decision about childbirth. It has been determined that the motivational component of women’s readiness to implement the reproductive function is directly related to the emergence of the need for a child and the formation of reproductive motives, which are the result of a complex interaction of biological, socio-cultural, economic, psychological and personal factors. It has been proven that women’s motivational readiness to implement the reproductive function is determined by a set of reproductive motives, which in their orientation can be constructive (determined by the value of the child itself) and destructive (the birth of a child is a means for woman to satisfy her own needs and interests). The basis of constructive motives is the psychological need for the child’s birth, which is associated with personal maturity and assumes that woman has a value-semantic orientation towards motherhood as an important life value. The results of empirical study determined that the reproductive motivation of modern women is influenced by socio-economic and socio-psychological factors, in particular: difficult economic and political situation in the country; uncertainty about the future; desire for professional self-realization; unstable relationship with her husband; unfavorable childhood experience of parental relationships and relationships with her own mother. The correlation between reproductive attitudes and women’s meaningful life orientations has been determined. It is noted that the psychological factors have a decisive role in the formation of women’s motivational readiness to implement reproductive function.
