The results of our previous studies consistently indicate that success in achieving one’s desired goals is a powerful predictor of professional well-being. An obvious consequence of unfulfilled needs, goals, values, or expected failure to achieve an important goal may be a decrease in satisfaction with certain aspects of work. This suggests the potential value of purposeful development of psychotechnology aimed at helping clients restore a state of well-being in professional activities. The purpose of this study is to develop a technology for psychological counseling of academic staff on issues of professional well-being within the framework of a motivational and value model. The nature of the research goal necessitated the use of a complex of general scientific theoretical methods. The psychological counseling technology we have developed involves providing professional assistance to the client in restoring or increasing his satisfaction with various aspects of professional activity. Understanding professional well-being as a component of the system of value-meaning self-regulation of life activity determines a certain specificity of providing psychological assistance, the result of which should be, in particular, awareness of one’s own self and one’s true needs, goals and values, as well as the importance of their implementation for job satisfaction and restoration of emotional balance in the professional environment; understanding the possibility of incorporating personal aspirations into professional activity, changing the value attitude towards professional activity and increasing professional motivation in this context; increasing motivation for self-development and optimizing internal personal resources to ensure progress in the realization of personal aspirations; awareness by the client of his own responsibility for his professional life.
