PSYCHOLOGICAL FEATURES OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF STRESS RESISTANCE OF FUTURE SPEECH THERAPISTS

Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of personal and professional formation of future representatives of thepedagogical community, in particular, applicants for higher education in the specialty 016 “Special Education”.The publication highlights the role of stress resistance as a professionally important quality of speech therapists in the process of their practical activity.Based on the conceptual views of scientists on the structural organization of the individual’s ability to resist stress, a theoretical model of studying the stress resistance of students of the specified specialty has been developed.According to the results of the empirical study, the psychological features of the manifestation of structural components are revealed and three levels of development of this formation in future speech therapists are determined.It is emphasized that the youth with a high level of stress resistance are characterized by a strong type of nervoussystem, which is the basis for successful resistance to stress, rapid adaptation to frequently changing environmental conditions, high performance under excessive stress; they have a low level of anxiety, adequate self-esteem, a high level of self-respect and self-regulation of their own behavior and activities. The distinctive characteristics of futurespeech therapists with an average level of stress resistance are quite good adaptation to environmental conditions – temporary difficulties in adapting to the environment appear only in conditions of prolonged stress, which directly affects the productivity of the work performed, but after a stressful situation, students of this level are able to recoverin a relatively short period of time; have an average level of anxiety, self-esteem and self-control. Students with alow level of stressfulness are characterized by a weak type of nervous system, which is manifested in the inabilityto respond to stress, excessive emotional explosiveness, slow recovery after exposure to stress-factors; in stressful situations, they demonstrate confusion, unproductive activity; they have a high level of anxiety, inadequate low self-esteem, and lack of confidence in their own abilities.The dominance of a low level of stress resistance in future speech therapists is noted, which requires targeted, systematic psychological and pedagogical correctional work to improve its quantitative and qualitative indicators.
