RELIGION AS A VALUE-SENSE RESOURCE IN A SITUATION OF WAR

Abstract

The article examines the multifaceted role of religiosity as a psychological adaptation mechanism that supports people in crisis situations. The focus is on the ability of religious beliefs to serve as a source of meaning, hope, and emotional resilience in conditions of extreme stress caused by war. Based on a review of modern global and Ukrainian research, the impact of religious beliefs and practices on stress tolerance, psychological well-being, individual adaptation to traumatic events, and the preservation of meaningful life orientations during militaryoperations is analyzed.It has been established that faith helps people find meaning in difficult circumstances and cope with militarystress. Religious practices, such as prayer, spiritual communication, and participation in church services, contribute to internal resilience and improve psychological well-being.Studies show that military and civilian personnel with a high level of religiosity demonstrate better psychological adaptation after traumatic events. The use of religious practices helps to create a sense of security and hope.The article also examines the modern phenomenon of media religiosity, that is, the transformation of religiousexperience under the influence of digital technologies and media. This aspect is analyzed as a reflection of theadaptation of religious practices to the real information society, where virtual platforms become a space for supporting spiritual communication, prayer and search for meaning.It is noted that digital technologies allow believers to maintain contact with their denomination throughonline worship, prayers, mobile applications and social networks. Religious leaders become active media figures, influencing public opinion and the psychological state of people. In wartime, media religiosity can play both a unifying role (moral support, mobilization of society) and a destructive one (legitimization of violence, incitement of interreligious conflicts).The conclusions emphasize that religion, both in its traditional form and in its media-adapted form, remainsa relevant and powerful resource for psychological resilience and social integration during war. The need forfurther research in this area is emphasized, taking into account the specifics of the cultural and historical contextof Ukraine.
