RESEARCH ON PERSONALITY TOLERANCE IN THE CONTEXT OF SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGICAL ADAPTATION OF INTERNALLY DISPLACED UKRAINIANS ABROAD

The article examined the tolerance of forcibly displaced Ukrainians in the context of their socio-psychological adaptation abroad. Tolerance was studied as psychological resilience to stress and traumatic events, as a set of personal characteristics, and as a system of positive core beliefs. The empirical study allowed for determining the manifestation of various aspects of tolerance among Ukrainian refugees: the average group indicators of ethnic andsocial tolerance correspond to a moderate level, while tolerance as a personality trait is at a high level. The average index of tolerance as a general indicator of personal tolerance corresponds to a moderate level. A level analysis of tolerance among the sample of forcibly displaced persons abroad showed that average levels prevail in thesubscales of “ethnic tolerance” and “social tolerance”, while a high level of tolerance dominates in the “tolerance as a personality trait” subscale. The analysis of the levels of the generalized index of personal tolerance indicated a predominance of the moderate level, characterized by the presence of both tolerant and intolerant traits depending on the social situations in which the refugees find themselves. The self-assessment by the respondents of their current level of stress allowed for determining the degree of stress resistance as an indicator of personal adaptability: in the sample of forcibly displaced persons abroad, a low level of stress resistance dominates, characterized by ahigh level of stress load and a low level of stress resilience. The core beliefs of forcibly displaced Ukrainians abroad mainly range from moderate to high levels, indicating their readiness for successful socio-psychologicaladaptation and future self-realization. Individuals with low levels of belief in the controllability of the world andlow self-control require both psychological support and assistance in engaging in a full life in a new sociocultural environment provided by the host community.
