The article deals with the phenomenon of alexithymia, which is a multidimensional psychological phenomenoncharacterized by difficulties in recognizing, expressing and verbalizing one's own emotions. It has been determined that alexithymia undoubtedly affects the emotional sphere, communication and interpersonal relationships of a person, characterized by difficulties in identifying, expressing and understanding one's own emotions, which complicates social adaptation and self-reflection.Given the growing number of cases of psychosomatic and addictive disorders accompanied by alexithymia, the study of this phenomenon is particularly relevant.A theoretical study of the basics of alexithymia from different theoretical perspectives, such as biopsychosocial, psychodynamic, and neurobiological, provides a comprehensive and holistic understanding of alexithymia andhelps in the development of effective diagnostic methods. In addition to affecting individual functioning, alexithymia has implications for the broader social context, including professional activities, interpersonal relationships, and overall social integration. A person’s inabilityto realize and regulate their own emotions can cause difficulties in teamwork, increase the level of conflict in relationships, and reduce the effectiveness of social interaction. It has been determined that this problem is especially relevant in the modern world, where high levels of stress, information overload and emotional burnout contribute to the development of alexithymic tendencies, becauseundoubtedly difficulties in expressing emotions complicate life, affect the effectiveness of interpersonal relationships, and have a significant impact on the emotional well-being of the individual and the psychosomatic state. In this regard, the role of alexithymia in psychotherapeutic practice is of particular interest, as the limited abilityto reflect and realize one’s own feelings can make it difficult to work with clients
