Cognition as a fundamental basis for the use of nonverbal methods in the psychocorrectional process with women in exile

Abstract

The article focuses on studying the mechanisms of cognition and their integration into nonverbal psychocorrection methods, particularly in psychocorrectional processes involving women in forced migration. Based on an epistemological approach, the article analyzes the primary levels of cognition – sensory, emotional, and rational – that enable self-awareness and metacognition. Cognition is considered not only as a theoretical category but also as a practical tool for harmonizing the internal world, processing traumatic experiences, and adapting to new life conditions. The article highlights metacognition, which includes self-awareness and decentering, as a key mechanism for integrating cognitive experiences. Self-awareness is defined as the ability to consciously reflect on one’s own thoughts, emotions, and actions, while decentering is understood as the ability to move beyond egocentric perception, enabling the revision of subjective interpretations and improvement of adaptive strategies. Particular attention is paid to the division of decentering into cognitive, affective, and content-related domains, which ensure the comprehension of interpersonal and internal processes. The article reveals the practical significance of nonverbal psychocorrection methods, emphasizing Osho’s active meditations and art therapy as tools of nonverbal psychocorrection that integrate sensory, emotional, and rational experiences. Particularly relevant for women in exile who face emotional and social challenges, the methods described enhance the effectiveness of psychocorrection without requiring verbalization. It is noted that nonverbal psychocorrection methods help women in forced migration to reconnect with their bodies, integrate life experiences, and preserve their identity.
