Abstract

The article highlights issues related to the sexual health of service members, which are extremely important for a full assessment of the well-being of both those currently serving and veterans in general. It is noted that experiences gained during military service can remain relevant for an individual even after its completion. Therefore, it is emphasized that specialists working with service members need to clarify their military experience to better understand the risks threatening their sexual well-being.
Emphasis is placed on the prevalence of sexual health problems in military personnel and their close connection with military service, so the approach to treating and therapy for sexual dysfunctions must be more comprehensive.
Methods. PTSD Checklist – Civilian Version (PCL-C); PHQ-9 questionnaire.
The empirical study found that the majority of the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) demonstrate an adequate level of adaptation, however, among those who have potential problems with the sexual sphere, this proportion is noticeably lower. Therefore, there is a need to determine a possible correlation between the deterioration of the ability to adapt and the increased risk of developing sexual dysfunctions. In addition to the aforementioned, serious adaptation disorders (with a confirmed diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder - PTSD) were found in the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, while this proportion is significantly lower among individuals with potential sexual problems.
It is noted the importance of strengthening the arsenal of means for overcoming sexual disorders caused by psychological factors. The article presents a correlation between combat stress disorder (post-traumatic stress disorder, PTSD) and complications in the field of sexual well-being.
