VISUALIZATION OF MENTAL DYNAMICS IN PORTRAITURE BY HRYHIR TYUTYUNNYK

Abstract

The article examines the psychological portrait as a means of visualizing the dynamics of mental characters in the short fiction of Hryhor Tyutyunnyk. This category includes states, processes, and properties that undergo transformations under the influence of exo- and endopsychic factors and find artistic reflection in the writer's content-dense text. Attention is focused on the role of portrait details, in particular procedural ones, such as facial expressions, posture, gaze, gestures, and speech, as elements that represent not only the character's appearance but also changes in his or her psycho-emotional state.We try to comprehend the relationship between bodily expression and inner experiences, which are often not verbalized but conveyed through facial and body movements. Taking into account the psychoanalytic tradition, the portrait is seen as a kind of projection of the unconscious, where artistic details signal displaced or affective states.The analysis is based on the material of the stories «Giving Katrya» and «The Ovary», which trace how external manifestations become a reflection of the characters' psychological transformation. If we focus on the images of Katrya and Mykola, it becomes clear that both of them are undergoing profound shifts, and the author reflects in detail their transitional state: from a girl-child to a woman mother, from a boy to a young man. Due to the state of extreme tension and confusion provoked by fear or love, the verbal channel is blocked, and body language, details of clothing or appearance become crucial for visualizing elements of the psychic. The study is based on some aspects of the psychoanalytic approach, which allows for a deeper interpretation of the relationship between external manifestations and the internal mental structure of the character.It is concluded that the portrait system of Hryhir Tyutyunnyk is not only a means of individualization or typification of characters, but also an instrument of exceptional psychologization that forms the subtextual plane and provides emotional content of the literary text.
