Abstract

From a physics perspective, black is classified as a color that reflects little or no light compared to its surroundings. In German-language dictionaries, words and phrases with the coloronym schwarz denote dark objects and are associated with darkness, with the dark skin color of people, with dirt. The coloronym schwarz is actively used figuratively, not only in a negative sense, denoting: mourning, illness, death, malicious intent, illegality, but also in a positive sense to denote atypical musical forms, attributes of martial arts and combat sports, prototypes of some professional groups and environments, and symbols of political unions in Germany. In the modern German-language press, the frequency of use of the coloronym schwarz directly depends on the worldview of the authors of the articles and their attitude to the environment, the social and political system of the country, man, his behavior and activities. The connotative features of the coloronym schwarz are increasingly found in phraseological units that are formed taking into account not only the symbolism of the color, but also its shade. Thus, they influence the characterization of phraseological units from the point of view of negativity or positivity. An analysis of German online magazines such as Deutschland and Welt confirms our opinion regarding the peculiarities of the use of the coloronym schwarz and its lexical and phraseological derivatives in modern German. It has been noted that the coloronym schwarz is used more often in substantive phraseological units than in verbal and adjective ones.Typically, substantive phraseological units have one common component - a noun, which is used in combination with semantically transformed adjectives, conjunctions, prepositions. In our study, these phraseological units have a simple structure – only the adjective schwarz and a noun. Any coloronym in a journalistic text is used for the purpose of evaluation, and what is interesting, it is not always negative. In this study, the coloronym schwarz as part of phraseological units gives a characteristic of a person, his condition and environment.
