ARTISTIC TRANSFORMATIONS OF THE "HOME" ARCHETYPE IN THE MILITARY ANTHOLOGY "ODE TO UKRAINE"

Abstract

The article is dedicated to the identification and analysis of indicative artistic transformations of the traditional archetype of home in the mentality structure of the Ukrainian people in the military prose of the post-February 2022 period. The conceptual focus of the chosen research object, the anthology «Ode to Ukraine», lies in its undeniable representativeness in reflecting the specificity of discourse in the narrative format of collective experience, with the fixation of social discursive practices of various intellectual elites regarding a particular issue. It also highlights the thematic homogeneity of the collection, combining narratives about symbolic or entirely physical spaces, loci, places associated with home, and forming both a geographical and a mental-value map of Ukraine. The artistic transformations of the traditional archetype of home in the mentality structure of the Ukrainian people were explored through achievements in mythological criticism, receptive aesthetics, and narrative analysis. This contributed to interpreting the archetype of home as a bodily category (L. Yakymchuk, V. Rafeyenko), tracing its transformation into the microspace of a dacha (T. Zolotkovska, A. Kurkov), a specific landscape (Carpathian in T. Prokhaskо and I. Karpa or Crimean in A. Levkova, significant for personal formation of Bakota topoi in K. Babkina and Trakhtemyriv in Lyubko Deresh), and the act of acquiring connotational layers of a happy future or the very possibility of this future (P. Yatsenko, O. Mykhed). These transformations of the age-old national archetype are primarily caused by the threat of losing a physical home (one's own dwelling, settlement, region, or even the entire country) due to terrorist attacks, occupation, or direct armed conflicts in specific territories. However, the mentioned changes also reflect the process of transitioning the concept of home from a utilitarian-physical level to a metaphysical phenomenon, ensuring the possibility of both personal and collective reincarnation in the face of the most profound existential crisis.
