This article is dedicated to the study of the concept of lexical borrowings of Asian origin, the causes of their emergence and use in modern Spanish, based on texts from the journalistic discourse. Lexical borrowings are an integral part of the vocabulary of any language, as they are a direct result of its development and interaction with other languages and cultures. Over the centuries, as a consequence of historical socio-economic contacts, trade relations, colonial expansion, cultural exchange and globalization, the Spanish lexicon has been enriched with words originating from the Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Turkish, Hindi, Persian and Malay languages. These new words mainly denoted new cultural realities, socio-political phenomena, and concepts related to economics, cuisine, and everyday life. These loanwords have not only become widespread in journalistic discourse and everyday communication, but have also been adapted to the phonetic, graphic and grammatical systems of the Spanish language. The relevance of this topic is due to the intensification of intercultural contacts, globalization processes in the modern world and the growing role of Asian countries in world politics, economics and culture, which directly affects linguistic processes in the Spanish language. The aim of the article is to identify the main groups of Asian borrowings, analyze the ways in which they penetrated the Spanish language, and also determine the peculiarities of their use in contemporary Spanish-language journalistic discourse. The study uses descriptive, etymological and contextual analysis methods, which make it possible to trace both historical and modern trends in the use of these lexemes. The article also analyzes loanwords according to their main spheres of usage and examines the semantic aspects of the use of words of Asian origin in journalistic texts. The results of the study show that lexical borrowings from Eastern languages not only enrich the vocabulary of Spanish but are also actively used in journalistic texts, reflecting current trends in language development, globalization, and the cultural identity of Asian countries.
