PECULIARITIES OF TRANSLATING COMIC FRAGMENTS OF A WORK OF FICTION. TRANSFORMATION AS A WAY TO ACHIEVE TRANSLATION ADEQUACY

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of structural and semantic features of comic elements in texts of literary discourse and their reproduction in Ukrainian translations. The study of the comic allows us to examine intercultural differences in language and conceptual worldviews, which determines the relevance of this research. The aim of the study is to analyse the structural and semantic features of comic elements in literary texts. The methods of linguistic analysis used in the study include stylistic analysis, contextual analysis and pragmatic analysis. The translation part of the work includes the use of transformational analysis. The selection of illustrative materials was based on continuous sampling methods, while quantitative analysis allowed us to draw conclusions about the frequency of use of certain means of reproducing comic and translational conversions in Ukrainian. he scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that it provides a comprehensive linguistic and translation analysis of the structural and semantic features of comic elements in Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass, in particular, it identifies the structural and semantic features of the comic in this work by identifying the linguistic level and analysing their semantic content, and studies translation shifts as a way of conveying the comic in Ukrainian translation. The practical significance of this study lies in the fact that its results have made a certain contribution to the theory of the comic, country studies, discourse analysis and translation theory.
