TRANSLATION AND PROOFREADING OF ENGLISH-LANGUAGE SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES INTO UKRAINIAN: MODERN CHALLENGES

Abstract

In recent years, a significant number of special studies have appeared in world scientific sources, which are published in English. However, for Ukrainian researchers who need access to this information, it is important to get quality material in the Ukrainian language. The study analyzes the challenges associated with the process of translating English-language scientific articles into Ukrainian and the features of further quality editing of Ukrainian texts. Among these challenges, it is worth noting terminological problems, peculiarities of translation of scientific terms and concepts, as well as adaptation of translated articles to the requirements of Ukrainian scientific research. The article also considers the importance of maintaining scholarly accuracy and style during translation. Translators of scientific texts need to be highly qualified, as well as have deep knowledge in the field under investigation, so that they can accurately convey the scientific content of the articles. In addition, the article highlights the role of translation of scientific articles in the implementation of scientific achievements in the Ukrainian scientific environment. Translation of English-language articles into Ukrainian promotes the dissemination of world scientific discoveries among Ukrainian researchers and provides access to modern scientific knowledge. In conclusion, the authors give recommendations for improving the process of translating scientific articles into Ukrainian, in particular, improving the qualifications of translators, creating specialized glossaries, and supporting scientific publishing houses in publishing Ukrainian materials.
