OCCUPIED NAMES-TALISMANS: MICROTOPONYMS OF THE VILLAGE OF VOSKRESENKA IN THE POLOHIVSKYI DISTRICT OF THE ZAPORIZHIA REGION

Abstract

The article is devoted to folk microtoponyms – names of parts of the territory and its objects. The study focuses on the unofficial toponymy of the village of Voskresenka in the Polohivsky district of the Zaporizhzhia region, which has been occupied by Russian troops for four years. The purpose of scientific research is to record microtoponyms for the sake of their preservation, to substantiate the etymology and word formation of these names, and to explain how regional specifics of Ukrainian thinking and speech are reflected in microtoponymy. The article provides a brief historical overview of the village of Voskresenka and describes its geographical, economic, and cultural features that have influenced the folk toponymic landscape. The microtoponyms of the village of Voskresenka, as a product of collective folk creativity, have been created throughout history, are used in oral form, and reveal the psychological character and social position of local residents, namely: rejection of colonial attitudes, interest in vivid moments of life, respect for morality, attachment to structures important for life, etc. Based on linguistic discourse, several groups of microtoponyms related to the village of Voskresenka have been identified: names of parts of territorу, names of closed reservoirs, names of forest plantations and parks, names of motorways, bus and railway stops, names of passenger transport (trains), and names of bridges. The names are associated with historical and socio-economic factors (the functioning of the railway, collective farms, brick factory, as well as bridges, parks, roads), complex terrain (ravines, hills, gullies, clay pits, streams), the large area of the village and its conditional division into parts. The microtoponyms of Voskresenka follow traditional toponymic principles of word formation: transferring names from one toponym to another, using relative and possessive adjectives. At the same time, they are characterized by the transformation of opportunistic (especially Soviet) names and the simplification of words in accordance with the local dialect.
