PROFESSIONALLY ORIENTED TEXT WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF MODERN EDUCATIONAL LINGUISTICS

Abstract

The article addresses the issue of forming the professional identity of future specialists through working with professionally oriented texts in Ukrainian for Specific Purposes classes. Particular attention is paid to the professional text, which functions not only as a source of knowledge but also as an effective means of developing professional speech, mastering specialized terminology, and shaping students’ awareness of the specifics of their future professional activity. The study examines various approaches to the use of professionally oriented texts in the educational process, including exercises aimed at analyzing, generalizing, and interpreting information, as well as the active use of terminology in both oral and written communication. It is emphasized that systematic work with scientific and professional texts contributes to the development of analytical thinking, critical evaluation skills, the ability to identify key information, structure material, and express one’s position in a reasoned manner. The article highlights that integrating professionally oriented texts into the learning process increases students’ motivation to study the Ukrainian language, promotes the formation of professional competence and professional identity, and prepares students for real professional activity that requires well-developed linguistic and communicative skills. In addition, mastering structured language and specialized vocabulary ensures a deeper understanding of the professional field, fosters self-editing skills, and enhances effective communication in a professional environment. Thus, working with professionally oriented texts is viewed as a powerful educational resource that supports the development of linguistic competence and professional identity of future specialists. The outlined provisions allow professional texts to be regarded not merely as didactic material, but as a means of students’ professional self-determination, strengthening the role of the Ukrainian language as an important factor in personal professional development.
