FEDIR ZHARKO, OLESIY GAPON, ISAAK TSYBULYV – UNIQUE FIGURES OF UKRAINIAN BANDUR ART (BASED ON FIELD RESEARCH MATERIALS)

Abstract

In this study, the authors, based on field research, present previously unpublished data on the state of development of modern bandura art since the 1930s. in Pereyaslavshchyna. These researches are based on the field materials of the authors, as well as the analysis of the exposition content of the Kobzarstvo Museum of the National Historical and Ethnographic Reserve “Pereyaslav” (NIEZ “Pereyaslav”). In particular, information about the National Merited Bandura Chapel of Ukraine named after G.I. Maiboroda, and the bandura master from Baryshivka O.M. Gapon. Based on the material obtained during the authors’ expedition and research work, an analysis of the life of amateur bandura music-making in the specified region was carried out. Special attention is paid to the activities of creative youth in Baryshivtsi. It was here that Fedir Zharko, a famous bandurist singer and author of poems, began his artistic activity. Brief biographical data about the master of making bandura Oleksiy Gapon is revealed. To date, the exact number of tools he made is unknown, but almost the only one that has survived is exhibited in the Museum of Kobzarstvo NIEZ “Pereyaslav”. The publication also mentions the talented bandurist Isaak Tsybuliva. These talented and extraordinary individuals lived in the village of Baryshivka (Kyiv region). They were members of an ensemble of amateur bandurists. Later, Fedir Zharko and Isak Tsybuliv continued their artistic activity in already professional collectives. But their entire lives were dedicated to the lofty mission of popularizing Ukrainian art among the general public.
